Album covers-remember them?
Remember the album covers of old? You know. Those nice inserts inside CD covers and those big massive record album covers. Where have they gone? Theres no pretty pictures with an MP3 unless you count the digital image of a CD cover that look exactly the same as all the online banners. No album covers are now officially an image fo the past unless their digital it seems. They have gone the same way as photos.
Do you remember the last person that got exited about having a plain old regular camera? You know the ones that take 110mm film or even the 35mm ones. That’s unless they have one of those professional photography cameras that cost a good few hundred. Under a hundred I believe the cameras that have film for someone who takes occasional pics to get exited about is called a “throw away” camera. Who would ever have thought you would be able to just “throw” your camera away as simply as platic plates a decade or so ago?
Looks like album covers have gone the same way together with record players, tapes and CDs. We can now download our music online and from disks onto our ipods and mp3s and hear them however we please attached via usb to a PC, sterio or direct from the mobile phone. No more bulky “mobile” tape walkmans needed today. One can easily put the music in there pocket and hear it wherever they go.
So what was your favourite album cover? There was a few I liked. Remember Billy Idol with his snarl and sticky up punked hair or Madonna in “like a virgin”? How many of us had life sized poster versions of them? How about Adam the Ant with his new romantic look? Remember his Robin Hood type hit song “Stand and deliver”?
This generation don’t know what they’re missing. How long can you (sanely) stare at a digital image? Turn off the PC/phone etc and its gone. You can’t stick that on your dresser/table or stick it on the wall instead of a poster.
